Niche for your website is first finding a suitable idea. If you’re keen on creating a website or blog, this will provide viewers with some sort of certainty as to what you’ll be putting up next. In this article, we talk about how to choose a niche for affiliate marketing websites in particular because more often than not, people want to get into affiliate marketing themselves. We’ll focus on choosing a niche based on certain criteria with lesser competition. Here’s what you should keep in mind:

Find low authority sites in the niche

If you think of the strategy behind this, it is relatively simple.  If there are weaker or newer sites that have already made an appearance on the very first page of Google for certain keywords, it means you have a good chance of ranking on the first page of google too. If you’re looking at keywords which have high authority websites ranking, make sure you avoid the niche, On the other hand, if you’re able to find 10 or 20 keywords with low authority website ranking, it could easily prove to be a great niche

Understand and use Domain Authority

In order to use Domain authority, you should remember this:

  • Under 30 DA is considered good
  • Over 30 DA is considered bad

In order to find the domain authority, make sure you have the MozBar Chrome extension and sign up for a free account.

Find at-least 5 to 10 sites with a DA under 30, that are ranking for keywords in a niche you think you’ll go ahead with.

Find keywords to target

Also known as keyword sampling, here the main idea is to figure out if you can find 10 keywords as quickly as possible whose search volume is decent and is also relatively easy to rank. The bottom line is this, your niche will be a good one if you’re struggling to find even 5-10 words that seem low in competition. For keyword sampling, keep the following criteria in mind:

  • The longer the keyword, the better( Ideally 3+ words long)
  • It should get a minimum of 500 searches per month
  • 3 or more affiliate sites should rank in the top 10
  • There are no more than 4 or 5 E-commerce sites on the first page of Google

  Is the niche profitable?

Having lots of topics to write on and having less competition is not everything, you need to   ensure your niche generates a substantial amount of income at the end of the day. Well, there isn’t exactly a number to go with, but a general presumption is this: if you find about 5 or 10 products in your niche, it might be too narrow or bad. On the other hand, if you find something with 30+ products, you might be in good hands.

You might be able to find plenty of Affiliate networks on the internet, but you need to focus on ones whose products are selling quickly in the market. Do your research and make your decision accordingly.
